AS Roma’s Serie A match against Udinese at the Stadio Friuli was suspended after defender Evan Ndicka collapsed on the pitch.
The incident occurred in the 70th minute of the game, with Ndicka reportedly experiencing chest pains and collapsing off the ball. Medical professionals quickly attended to him, and he was subsequently taken off on a stretcher. Ndicka was able to give a thumbs up to those present as he was being carted off the pitch.
Initially, play was suspended for 15 minutes, but the match was ultimately abandoned after both sets of players expressed discomfort with continuing to play on Sunday evening, as confirmed by referee Luca Pairetto.

Roma later issued a statement providing an update on Ndicka’s condition, stating, “Following the on-field medical emergency involving Evan Ndicka, the match between Udinese and Roma has been suspended. The player is conscious and has been taken to the hospital for further checks. Forza Evan, we are all with you.”
Udinese also expressed their support for Ndicka through a statement on their official social media channels, writing, “We are with you, Ndicka.”
The rescheduling of the remainder of the game between Roma and Udinese is yet to be determined.
Before the suspension, the match was tied at 1-1, with Roberto Pereyra scoring for Udinese in the first half and Romelu Lukaku equalizing for Roma in the 64th minute.
