The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has expressed “total and unconditional support” for La Liga referee Juan Martinez Munuera following a complaint from Real Madrid regarding the alleged omission of racist abuse towards Vinicius Junior in his match report over the weekend.
Despite Madrid’s victory over Osasuna, the focus shifted to the abuse directed at Vinicius, prompting the club to claim that Munuera “voluntarily and deliberately omitted the insults and humiliating shouts… despite being warned insistently by our players at the same time they were occurring.”
However, Osasuna refuted any allegations of racist chanting aimed at Madrid players. Munuera’s post-match report acknowledged instances of death threats towards Vinicius from certain sections of Osasuna fans and heckling directed at the player after receiving a yellow card.

The RFEF’s Technical Competition Committee, to which the complaints were submitted, deemed the accusations against Munuera as “unfair.”
Their statement clarified: “We must clarify that, once the audios of the match were reviewed, no indication was heard from any Real Madrid CF player regarding this issue nor, after the match, did the club delegate inform the referee of any incident related to these shouts or chants.”
The RFEF emphasized their commitment to combatting all forms of violence, racism, xenophobia, and intolerance.
Vinicius has unfortunately been subjected to racist chanting on multiple occasions in recent seasons.
