The Premier League has officially announced the schedule for the 2025-2026 season, which will kick off on Saturday, August 16, 2025, and conclude on Sunday, May 24, 2026. For the first time, no two match rounds will be scheduled within 60 hours of each other during the holiday period, providing players with much-needed recovery time.

The Premier League highlighted these changes in a statement titled “Dates for 2025/26 Premier League Season Confirmed,” published on its official website. “By ensuring no two rounds occur within 60 hours of each other, the schedule offers players more downtime during the busy holiday period,” the statement read.

The Premier League also noted its efforts to sync the schedule with international events. The August 16 start date allows for an 83-day break after the 2024-25 season ends, while the May 24 finish date ensures players are available for the FIFA 2026 World Cup preparation period.
The season will feature five midweek match rounds and 33 weekends of fixtures, setting the stage for an exciting nine-month competition. The new schedule aims to support player recovery and fitness while preserving the intensity and excitement of the Premier League.
