The statement stated, in part, that during the operation, troops “neutralized” one of the terrorists and “extricated” four kidnapped victims. It also stated that the troops neutralized some kidnappers in Owerri, forcing them to abandon the abducted victim and their belongings. Two suspected members of the ESN were also arrested, and the burnt corpses of policemen were discovered at the camp.

“Troops on night patrol in Owerri metropolis foiled a kidnapping attempt by some suspected IPOB/ESN terrorists,” the statement said. The crooks were forced to leave the victim when the military engaged them in a gunfight.

“One G-3 rifle with mounted magazines, one AK-47 rifle and magazine, and the terrorists’ vehicle were recovered by the troops.”
