On Friday, the Supreme Court upheld Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s election to the Lagos State governorship.
The appeal submitted by Mr. Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the candidate for the Labour Party, LP, was dismissed by Justice Garba Lawal, who read the main verdict.
Sanwo-Olu had earlier pleaded with the Supreme Court to reject the appeals against his election victory on February 25 for governor.

The Peoples Democratic Party and Abdulazeez Adediran, their candidate, as well as Rhodes-Vivour were contesting Sanwo-Olu’s victory.
The LP requested that the supreme court rule that anomalies and noncompliance with the Electoral Act marred the March 18 election, and further stated that Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat was ineligible to run for office.
In a similar vein, Adediran submitted 34 grounds of appeal, requesting that the Supreme Court reverse the decisions made by the Court of Appeal and the Lagos State Governorship Election Tribunal.
However, Sanwo-Olu’s attorney, Nas Ogunsakin, told the court that the witnesses produced were incompetent and that the petitioners had not provided any evidence to back up their accusations.
