Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers State, claims that the legal disputes that had been a source of distraction for his administration over the previous eight months have been resolved as a result of his Supreme Court victory.
Nonetheless, he vowed to stick to the reason he was elected and said he would not let anything divert attention from the state’s governance.
Tonye Cole, the All Progressives Congress candidate for governor of Rivers State, had his appeal denied by the Supreme Court on Thursday.

Cole petitioned the supreme court to remove Fubara from office as state governor.
Cole’s appeal was denied by Justice Ibrahim Saulawa, who read the main decision on Thursday.
In a unanimous ruling, the appellant’s claims that the Electoral Act was not followed during the election were deemed unfounded by the five-member panel of the highest court.
He claimed that there were irregularities in the election and that Fubara had not duly resigned from his prior position prior to the election, as required by law.
For lack of merit, the case was dismissed by the tribunal as well as the Court of Appeal.
However, Fubara responded to the Supreme Court’s ruling on Thursday that upheld his election in Port Harcourt by saying, “The Supreme Court revalidated our mandate in the election about an hour ago.” It is the state’s overall triumph.

“And the good news we received this morning is a welcome boost that will motivate us to carry out the excellent deeds in governance.”
Fubara expressed gratitude to God and President Bola Tinubu for acting as a father figure during the internal conflict and the legal battle over his election.
In addition, he expressed his appreciation to Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory’s Minister, whom he called his “Oga,” for all of his help.
The governor urged everyone to work together with his administration to create a competitive state that is regarded as genuinely prosperous in every way.
