In the summer transfer window, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in bringing Idrissa Gueye to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
What’s the word?
According to a report from French media outlet Jeunes Footeux (via Sport Witness), with just over a year left on his current contract at Le Parc des Princes, Paris Saint-Germain may be willing to sell the defensive midfielder at the end of the current season.
According to the source, this has alerted Tottenham to the idea of bringing the 32-year-old to north London this summer, with Fabio Paratici reportedly keeping a close check on the Senegal international’s position ahead of a potential €20 million (£17 million) transfer.

Given that acquiring a new central midfielder is one of Conte’s main priorities in the summer transfer window, it’s easy to see why the 52-year-old would be interested in bringing Gueye to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium ahead of the club’s 2022/23 season.
In the last 365 days, the £13 million dynamo is in the top 5% of midfielders in Europe’s big five leagues for pressures per 90 minutes, top 7% for tackles, top 31% for interceptions, top 8% for passes attempted, top 1% for passes completed, top 22 percent for progressive carries, and top 10% for non-penalty goals, according to FBref data.
Furthermore, the £99k-per-week star, who Joe Rimmer claims is “absolutely everywhere,” has Premier League experience, averaging 7.30 season SofaScore ratings with Everton in 2015/16, 7.25 in 2016/17, 7.00 in 2017/18, and 7.09 in 2018/19.
As a result, despite his advanced age, it appears that Gueye would still be a terrific addition to Conte’s midfield options this summer, especially if the 32-year-old is available for as low as £17 million.
And, if Paratici is successful in completing a deal for the Senegalese phenomenon, the 52-year-old Spurs manager may have found his new N’Golo Kante – the French defensive midfielder with whom Conte won the Premier League title at Chelsea.
