The announcement of the death of well-known Islamic musician Rukayat Gawat Oyefeso of Nigeria caused the Muslim community to express deep sorrow.
The cleric Alfa Aribidesi At-Tawdeeh Islamic Da’awah, who is headquartered in Ilorin, reported her death on Tuesday morning via his official Facebook page.
Alfa Aribidesi posted, “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved sister, Rukayat Gawat, adding that the details surrounding her death were yet to be fully disclosed.

Rukayat Gawat was the first child and daughter of the popular broadcaster, Alhaji Rasaq Gawat, a respected Islamic personality and television presenter in Nigeria who was known for his Islamic program, ‘E dide e ji sari’ before his sudden disappearance in 2012. She was born in Isale-Eko area in Lagos state.
She first gained widespread recognition after the release of her debut album, which resonated with many listeners in Nigeria and the larger Muslim community.
Known for her captivating voice and using her songs to pass messages to her Muslim fans, she sang many music including Oba Nla, Morire, Ododo Eye and lots more.
