Sir Jim Ratcliffe and key members of the INEOS team conducted their first visit to Manchester United on Tuesday as they prepare to assume control at Old Trafford.
Ratcliffe has reached an agreement to acquire a 25% stake in United from the Glazer family. However, he cannot officially commence his role at the club until the Premier League completes their Owners’ and Directors’ test to verify the British billionaire’s suitability to lead a team.
During this interim period, Ratcliffe, along with several INEOS officials, visited Old Trafford to initiate the settling-in process and assess the club. Sources indicate that Ratcliffe was accompanied by INEOS Director of Sport Sir Dave Brailsford and Executive Jean-Claude Blanc, both of whom are slated to assume roles at United pending Premier League approval.

With the Premier League’s approval process expected to span up to eight weeks, Ratcliffe and his team plan to conduct multiple meetings at both Old Trafford and the Carrington training ground.
Until INEOS’ arrival is greenlit by the Premier League, the current hierarchy at United retains control over all football matters at Old Trafford. However, the purchase agreement documentation outlines that United must consult INEOS on all business matters before the minority takeover is formally concluded.
One pressing issue is the decision regarding the future of winger Jadon Sancho, who has been sidelined from the first-team picture since his public disagreement with manager Erik ten Hag in September. United is engaged in talks with Borussia Dortmund about a potential loan move for Sancho, but all plans must be discussed with INEOS officials until the share purchase is finalized.
