Sir Alex Ferguson, the legendary Manchester United manager, has stated that selling Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid was the correct option.

Ronaldo’s ambition to pursue a dream move to Spain in 2009, according to Ferguson, prompted him to let the forward leave.
A £80 million deal for Ronaldo was eventually approved by the LaLiga giants.
“I was not against it, six years was excellent for a guy from Madeira, getting him here shortly after his 18th birthday,” Ferguson remarked on the UTD Podcast.
That way, I believe we did well, and it allowed me the opportunity to choose a replacement.
“We got Antonio Valencia, who was wonderful, so we were quite fortunate in that regard.
I was aware of this (how good he would be). When he arrived at Real Madrid, he had that kind of platform.
“To be fair to Real, they are a club that has consistently produced world-class players over many years and has won the European Cup 13 times or so.
“You have to give them credit; it is a platform that any great athlete would want to be a part of.”
