Former Super Eagles striker Samson Siasia has urged interim head coach Augustine Eguavoen to step down from his role as manager.
Siasia believes Eguavoen cannot effectively lead the team while also serving as the Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
In an interview with Vanguard, Siasia also advised the NFF against hiring a foreign coach for the three-time African champions, emphasizing that there is enough local talent to manage the team.

“We don’t want any foreign coach because they are not coming here to achieve anything,” Siasia said. “We have plenty of good players at home, so there’s no need to be considering foreign coaches.”
Regarding Eguavoen’s future with the Super Eagles, Siasia suggested waiting a little longer to assess the team, which he described as young. However, he also recommended that Eguavoen resign as manager to focus on his role as technical director.
“Eguavoen already has a job as technical director. He should step down as Super Eagles manager and focus on that position. He can’t hold both roles,” Siasia added. “He needs to decide which role to keep and leave the other.”
