AC Milan’s manager, Stefano Pioli, has elucidated his decision to sideline Samuel Chukwueze against Juventus on Saturday.
Despite Chukwueze’s recent commendable performances for the Rossoneri, the Nigerian international was anticipated to be in the starting lineup against the Bianconeri. However, to the surprise of many, Pioli opted to include him among the substitutes.
Pioli explained that he often finds himself in the position of sacrificing Chukwueze for an additional midfielder. “I preferred Pulisic (against Juventus) instead. Chukwueze is also performing well, but currently, I am unwilling to forgo an extra midfielder to accommodate four attacking players. Therefore, Chukwueze is the one being sacrificed the most at this time,” Pioli conveyed to Milan News.
