After Zlatan Ibrahimovic started a verbal spat, former Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero defended Lionel Messi and his Argentina teammates.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s remarks on Lionel Messi and his criticism of the behavior of Argentina players following their World Cup victory have been met with an angry response from Sergio Aguero.
Ibrahimovic was denying claims that Messi, with whom he briefly shared a Barcelona team at the time, was the best player to ever play the game when he made the remarks after Messi and Argentina won the World Cup last month.
Following his victory with his country in Qatar, the Milan striker had this to say about the Argentine superstar: “I was certain that Messi would win since he is regarded as the best player to have ever lived. Kylian Mbappe will still win one more World Cup, in my opinion.”
The 41-year-criticism old’s of Messi’s Argentina teammates for “behaving terribly” after their victory and implication that they were poor winners, however, were perhaps more striking.
Aguero, who ended his playing career a year ago but traveled with Argentina’s team for the World Cup, was offended by the remarks and has since retaliated against Ibrahimovic.
Let’s remember that you also behaved badly, right? The former Manchester City striker was speaking on twitch when he recalled a Manchester derby in which the two were involved. I recall that we competed with United. On the bench, I was. You were provocative and speaking back.
“I think you should worry about your country and your players, who weren’t even in the recent World Cups, before caring about Argentina,” Aguero concluded. They weren’t even eligible, but I dunno.
“I recall that during a match between City and United, you and [Nicolas] Otamendi got into a fight. You and Pep Guardiola disagreed. I imagine he wanted to sell you from Barcelona for that reason. You showed my teammates no respect.
Let’s not forget that you also shown poor behavior. The former Manchester City striker recalled a Manchester derby in which the two were participants as he was talking on Twitch. I seem to remember that United being our rival. I was on the bench. You made a controversial comment and responded.
After saying that, Aguero added, “I think you should care about your country and your guys, who weren’t even in the recent World Cups.” I don’t know, they weren’t even qualified.
“I recall that you and [Nicolas] Otamendi got into a fight during a City vs. United game. Pep Guardiola and you were at odds. I suppose that’s why he wanted to sell you from Barcelona. You didn’t respect my teammates at all.
Messi is not a concern for me. The others in Argentina are not going to win anything else, so I am concerned about them. Messi has accomplished everything and will be recognized, but we cannot respect the other individuals who have behaved terribly “said he.
“As a top professional player, I can say that this is an indication that you will win once, but not again. That is not how you are supposed to win.
