The bank posted a notice titled “redemption of cash” on the apex bank’s website on Wednesday.
Nigerians can exchange their old N1,000, N500, and N200 notes for new ones by filling out an online form, according to the CBN.
The notification also included a link to the portal where people could deposit any old notes they might have.

“Please click here to create your profile, generate reference and print out receipt for you to proceed to nearest CBN branch to deposit your old N1000, N500 and N200 notes into your bank account,” it reads.
In order to generate a reference number, the apex bank asked customers to provide their Bank Verification Number (BVN), email address, phone number, bank account details, depositor information (including house address), and the total amount of the denomination to be redeemed.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Supreme Court declared that its February 8 ruling prohibiting the Federal Government and its agencies from enforcing the February 10 deadline for the usage of old N200, N500, and N1,000 notes remains in effect.
The Supreme Court additionally set February 22 for the hearing of the lawsuit brought by the states of Kaduna, Kogi, and Zamfara contesting the legality of the Federal Government’s naira swap scheme.
The Attorneys General of Katsina, Lagos, Cross River, Ondo, Ogun, Ekiti, and Sokoto states were added as co-plaintiffs in the earlier lawsuit brought by Kaduna, Kogi, and Zamfara states, and the court set the date as a result.
