Ruben Amorim has stated he will announce his decision regarding his future after Sporting CP’s match against Estrela on Friday.
Reports from the English media emerged Thursday morning, claiming that Manchester United had reached a complete agreement to appoint Amorim as their next manager, with an official announcement expected later in the day.
Coincidentally, Amorim held a press conference that afternoon to preview the Estrela game, where many questions focused on his potential move to United.

When asked about comments from INEOS chief Sir Dave Brailsford suggesting the deal was “done,” Amorim responded: “I know they made a trip to discuss this, which is natural, but we’ll leave that for after the game. After the game, I’ll address all these matters.
“Right now, I want the team to focus, and I need to do the same. I promise to speak after the match, and everything will be clearer then. Discussing it now would only destabilize the squad. Our focus is on the game.”
Amorim reiterated, “At the end of the match, everything will be clear. Right now, the focus is on Estrela. I wouldn’t do anything differently; I don’t control the situation. We’ll have time to address this after the game.”
Some members of the English media attended the press conference to seek a formal timeline on his impending announcement. Amorim confidently replied in English, “It’s a negotiation between two clubs. It’s never easy, even with the clauses; they need to discuss it. We will have clarification after the game. It will be very clear, so it’s just one more day. After the game tomorrow, the decision will be made.”
As part of the agreement between United and Sporting, Amorim is expected to remain in charge of Sporting until the November international break, after which he will transition to Old Trafford.
