Leny Yoro opted for Manchester United over Real Madrid this summer after being dissatisfied with the contract offer from the Spanish club, according to reports.

Yoro, who was in the final year of his contract with Lille, was initially expected to join Real Madrid, with many suggesting he had his sights set on a move to the Santiago Bernabรฉu, either this summer or as a free agent.

However, Real Madrid was hesitant to meet Lilleโ€™s demands and hoped Yoro would pressure Lille to lower the asking price. In contrast, Manchester United acted swiftly, securing a ยฃ52 million deal for the centre-back. Yoro has been sidelined since suffering a foot injury during his pre-season debut.

MARCA reports that while Real Madrid did show interest, they challenged the 18-year-old to demonstrate his commitment by rejecting other offers. They proposed a contract worth around โ‚ฌ2.5 million (ยฃ2.1 million) per season.

Manchester United, on the other hand, offered Yoro a more lucrative contract worth โ‚ฌ9.5 million (ยฃ8 million) per season, which ultimately persuaded him to move to Old Trafford. Real Madrid felt their current defensive options were sufficient and did not want to exceed their budget for Yoro.

Yoro, who signed a five-year contract with United, including an option for an additional year, has been recovering from his pre-season injury and recent surgery. He was recently seen walking without crutches, indicating progress in his recovery.
