Former Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel is no longer in contention to replace Erik ten Hag as Manchester United boss, according to several reports.
Almost immediately after Tuchel’s departure from Bayern was announced, he emerged as a top candidate to succeed Ten Hag should new United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe decide to make a change this summer.
Tuchel recently held discussions with United officials regarding the position. However, as initially reported by Fabrizio Romano, the former Chelsea and Bayern manager is now planning to take a break from football and will not be taking over at Old Trafford this summer.

The Times further state that Tuchel presented a compelling case directly to Ratcliffe, outlining his strategy to maximize Mason Mount’s potential and reintegrate Jadon Sancho into the squad. Nonetheless, Tuchel left the meeting with the impression that Ratcliffe was leaning towards a different direction.
Ratcliffe’s meeting with Ten Hag was part of his post-season evaluation of United’s campaign, with the club still maintaining that a final decision on the Dutchman’s future is pending.
In addition to Tuchel, Mauricio Pochettino, Kieran McKenna, and Thomas Frank have also been in discussions with United as part of the selection process, which is anticipated to reach a definitive conclusion this week.
Roberto De Zerbi, who recently departed Brighton & Hove Albion, is reportedly of interest to United if they decide to part ways with Ten Hag.
Meanwhile, Ten Hag has consistently expressed his belief that he will remain in charge next season, having already engaged in discussions regarding potential transfer targets with the new owner.
