Idowu Philips, a seasoned actress better known by her stage as Mama Rainbow, has opened up about how she was driven to request that her five children be interred with their father out of worry that she wouldn’t be able to care for them following her husband’s passing.

The seasoned actress revealed this in an interview with BBC Yoruba, saying that after her husband passed away, people began to treat her disrespectfully and refer to her as “Idowu.”

She claimed that she worked really hard to raise her five children and that no one hustled more than she did.

‘For me to cater to five children with no husband and they went to school, graduate, you should know that it is not easy,’ she said.


Narrating how her husband died, the 80-year-old stated that he was sick for two years before he later died in 1984.

She said her children were still very young at the time and that was when her problem started.

Iya Rainbow added that when they brought the children to her, she asked that they buried the children alongside her late husband.

She said:

”When they brought the children, i said they should not worry, i then asked them to put all the children inside the grave and bury all of them together.”

The seasoned actress added that some folks who used to call her madam started calling her “Idowu come here.”

She claimed that before his passing, her late husband used to feed these individuals.

She noted that she stopped working with some people in the Nigerian movie industry because of the insults.
