Real Madrid have confirmed that Vinicius Junior sustained a “cervical injury” during their victory over Villarreal at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Brazilian star was in top form on Saturday, scoring a spectacular goal from 25 yards out to secure all three points for Los Blancos. However, just six minutes after his goal, Vinicius was forced to leave the field due to an injury and was replaced by Arda Güler for the final 11 minutes of the match.
Madrid later issued a statement confirming Vinicius’ cervical injury, stating: “Following tests carried out on our player Vinicius Junior, he has been diagnosed with a cervical injury. Pending evolution.”

It remains uncertain whether Vinicius will travel to South America for Brazil’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Chile and Peru during the October international break.
To compound Madrid’s injury woes, Dani Carvajal also suffered a significant setback during the match. The club confirmed that Carvajal ruptured his ACL in a challenge with Yeremy Pino and will require surgery.
Carvajal addressed his injury on Instagram, writing: “A serious injury to the cruciate ligament has been confirmed. I will undergo surgery and will be out for a few months. I’m already looking forward to starting my recovery and coming back stronger. Thank you all for your messages; I feel very loved.”
