Real Madrid had already secured qualification for the knockout stages but needed to avoid defeat against Napoli to guarantee top spot in Group C with a game to spare. However, the visitors took an early lead at the Santiago Bernabeu, with Simeone scoring after nine minutes.

The lead lasted only a minute as Rodrygo equalized with an exquisite goal. Bellingham then powered a header into the net, giving Madrid a deserved lead. Napoli leveled proceedings in the second half through Anguissa’s fierce effort.

Despite Napoli’s efforts, Madrid remained a threat. Paz’s long-range shot somehow slipped through the gloves of Napoli’s goalkeeper, and Joselu secured the victory with a fourth goal. The win ensured that Real Madrid enters the knockout rounds as the top seed.
