Pastor Ola Ogunfuwa of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and 22 people alleged to be working with him are among those trapped in the wreckage of a 21-story building that collapsed in Lagos’ Ikoyi neighborhood on November 1, 2021.
Ogunfuwa was working as a contractor on the building before it fell, according to his friend, Emmanuel Omotosho, who is also a pastor at the church.
He said Ogunfuwa is in charge of the Living Water Parish in Ibafo, Ogun State, and that he came to work on the building with 22 other artisans from Ibafo, including bricklayers and welders.

We haven’t seen any of the 22 people who have been rescued yet, and we believe he is still there because we learned that he came out to eat yesterday (Monday) at break time, but as he was about to wash his hands to eat, he was summoned by one of his bosses, and he went back inside, but the building collapsed and he was trapped,” Omotosho said.
He said that the pastor, who is the pastor of the Living Water Parish in Ibafo, Ogun State, was working on the project as a contractor.
Emmanuel said he hasn’t heard from anyone or been named among those who have been rescued or taken out alive.
“Right now, he’s still there, and we pray that God will have his way with him.”
We prayed as a congregation all night yesterday, and we’re still thinking that there’s nothing God can’t accomplish since we know there are still many individuals there, some of whom are over 50 years old.
“We’re still expecting more individuals to be saved because the ones they’ve rescued aren’t up to ten.”
Twenty people have been reported killed as of Tuesday night, while nine people have been recovered alive from the rubble.
