Antonio Rudiger, a defender for Real Madrid, has informed RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner that he will put their friendship on hold for their forthcoming UEFA Champions League match.
On Wednesday night in Spain, Real Madrid will host Leipzig in a Champions League group stage match.
During their time at Chelsea, Werner and Rudiger were teammates.
Rudiger asserted that it would be his duty to prevent Werner from scoring against Real Madrid during a pre-game press conference.
Rudiger told reporters, “We have known one other for a long time because we were on the same team for a while” (via MARCA).
“I adore seeing him play. We won’t be pals again this time. To defend him will be one of the objectives.
Recall that The Serie A powerhouse Juventus has also expressed interest in Werner this summer, but the German has decided to return to Leipzig.
