The catastrophic explosion that happened in the capital of Oyo State, Ibadan, on Tuesday night has left President Bola Tinubu feeling saddened.
Two people were murdered and approximately 80 others were injured in the explosion, according to a statement released on Wednesday and signed by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Advisor to the President on Media and Publicity.
Several cars, buildings, and other things were also damaged.

It is concerning that the actions of unauthorized miners are being blamed for the explosion.
The President declared, “Those responsible for the unacceptable and careless actions that allowed the tragic event to happen must be found and dealt with.”
Tinubu expressed sympathy to the Oyo State government and people, and he urged all relevant government authorities to investigate the circumstances that led to the tragedy.
In order to provide the victims with prompt and all-encompassing help, the President additionally instructed the National Emergency Management Agency to collaborate with the Oyo State Government.
Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State, stated on Wednesday that initial security agency investigations had shown that explosive devices kept by unauthorized miners were the reason for Tuesday’s explosion that shook Dejo Oyelese Street, Bodija, Ibadan, the state capital.
Following the explosion, which also damaged parts of the governor’s office, secretariat, Oyo State House of Assembly, Chief Bola Ige’s home, the former attorney general and minister of justice, and several buildings in Ologuneru, Apete, New Garage, Bashorun, Akobo, Sango, and Eleyele, at least ten people were believed to have died and fifteen more were hospitalized.
Visiting the site of the explosion on Tuesday night, Makinde stated that although inquiries were still underway, those proven to be at fault would face consequences.
“The explosion was caused by explosive devices that illegal miners who were occupying a house in Bodija had stored there, according to preliminary investigations conducted by the security forces.
The inquiries are still being conducted. “Everyone found responsible for this will face consequences,” he tweeted on Wednesday.
