French club PSG has reportedly refused to pay Kylian Mbappe nearly £50 million in unpaid wages, despite being ordered to do so by the LFP, the governing body of French professional football. The LFP had instructed the club to pay the missing bonuses and wages owed to Mbappe from his seven-year stint in Paris. However, PSG has confirmed they will not comply with the ruling.
The disagreement stems from Mbappe’s contentious departure from the Parc des Princes earlier in the summer, and whether he was entitled to leave on a free transfer. Mbappe is believed to have contacted UEFA last month regarding the salary dispute.
PSG responded to the LFP ruling by stating, “Given the limits of the legal scope of the committee to make a complete decision on this case, the case must now be contested before another jurisdiction, to which PSG will be happy to present all the facts in the months and years to come.”

In a letter to Mbappe’s lawyer, PSG alleged that the player’s legal team had proposed an agreement in August 2023 to reduce his bonuses by €55 million for the 2023-24 season. This led to his reintegration into the team, but PSG claimed the agreement was neither signed nor sent to the league, due to a verbal understanding between Mbappe and PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi.
Previous reports suggested PSG withheld Mbappe’s wages to avoid paying a loyalty bonus included in his 2022 contract extension. Despite this, the LFP’s legal commission ordered PSG to pay the full amount after Mbappe declined a mediation offer to settle the dispute.
Mbappe, who captains the French national team, left PSG for Real Madrid earlier in the summer after years of reported tension with the Parisian club.
