The Headies Awards announced the nominees for each category around three days ago, and the fast-rising Nigerian musician, Habeeb Okikiola, better known as Portable, was nominated for two Headies Awards categories. Portable was nominated for Best Rookie of the Year and Best Street Hop Artist of the Year.
Portable posted video recordings on his official social media platforms after receiving the nomination. He stated in the video that the Headies Award organisers must give him the two awards. He threatened to send thugs to any artist who received the honours from Headies.
The Headies Awards have issued an official statement in response to the video.
