According to reports, a professional football player by the name of Jean-Manuel Nedra and his WAG were detained at Paris’ Charles de Gaulle airport after 100 kilograms of cocaine was discovered hidden in their baggage while they were on a personal trip.
The first division team in Martinique is Aiglon du Lamentin, where 29-year-old Jean-Manuel Nedra plays.
According to the local prosecutor’s office, as reported by the French newspaper Le Parisien, he was taken into custody pending trial after being brought before an investigating court.
It is rumored that his partner has been freed.
Without knowing the extent of his involvement, his team released the following statement to local media: “We discovered that one of our players was arrested at Roissy for drug smuggling.
“Let us be stronger than ever and united to continue our job of education via sport, to battle this scourge, to guard and warn our young people about the dangers, repercussions, and abuses of this environment.”
When he was detained, he is said to have been on personal business.
