“Developing and implementing a harmonized police reform report, amending the Police Act, carrying out Mr. President’s directive on the withdrawal of police personnel from VIP security duties, and developing a community policing strategy are the key mandates of the Ministry of Police Affairs,” the minister stated.
“These missions are transformative projects that have the potential to improve Nigeria’s internal security, not just duties.
The Nigeria Police Force is facing a critical moment as a result of decades of neglect that have made it more difficult for it to carry out its constitutional responsibility.
Nor has the Ministry of Police Affairs escaped unharmed. The Ministry is now at the vanguard of the Police Transformation Agenda, though, and it must rise to the occasion given Mr. President’s commitment to overhauling the Nigeria Police Force.
“It is the Ministry’s heavy duty to ensure coordination and establish the necessary frameworks to lead the Nigeria Police Force toward enhanced operational and technical efficacy.”
