According to the Nigeria Police in Rivers State, on Sunday morning, two suspected cultists attacked and killed five local residents of the Odiemerenyi community in Ahoada East Local Government Area.
According to the police, the cultists were part of the group commanded by David Gift, also known as 2-Baba, the sought kingpin who killed SP Bako Angbanshin, the Ahoada Divisional Police Officer, in September.

Superintendent of Police Iringe-Koko reiterated the command’s pledge to apprehend and prosecute 2-Baba, the wanted leader of the Iceland cult gang, and any other fugitive suspected cultists.
According to the statement, “On Sunday morning, November 12, 2023, at around 1:00 a.m., personnel of the Ahoada Police Station received a distress call informing them that some suspected cultists loyal to the wanted David Gift, also known as 2Baba, had invaded the Odiemerenyi community in search of potential police informants.”
After learning of the incident, the police division quickly moved to mobilize additional tactical units to the scene.
“The thugs who had tragically murdered five aboriginal people prior to the police’s arrival opened fire on them as soon as they saw them approaching the community.
Two of the alleged cultists suffered mortal injuries, but the police’s superior firepower ultimately overcame the thugs.
Meanwhile, in order to guarantee that David Gift and other evading suspects are apprehended, the Commissioner of Police has directed the Ahoada Police Division and other tactical units to step up their efforts.
The community’s and Ahoada East’s neighboring communities’ residents were urged by the CP to go about their lawful business because sufficient protection was put in place to fend off any security threat that might be brought on by criminal elements.
