Four people have been taken into custody by Lagos State police officers on suspicion of robbing motorists during rush hour in the Ojota region of the state.
This was revealed in a statement on Tuesday by Benjamin Hundeyin, the public relations officer for the Lagos Police Department.
The suspects were taken into custody, according to Hundeyin, after a tip from one of the victims tipped off men in the Rapid Response Squad. They moved quickly, pursued the suspects, and apprehended three of them on Sunday and the fourth on Monday.

“On Christmas Eve, while on patrol at the MKO Abiola’s Garden, Ojota, Lagos, operations of the Rapid Response Squad arrested four suspected traffic robbers and recovered three android phones and an ATM card,” the statement stated.
At approximately 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, RRS bike riders on patrol in the vicinity were notified by one of the victims, leading to the arrest of the perpetrators. The suspects include the gang leader, Uche Ugwu (25), Adebayo Olatunbosun (20), Wale John (28) and Wasiu Olawale (23), an ex-convict who was freed in May 2023.
Three individuals were apprehended by the police after they conducted a thorough investigation, and three Android phones and an ATM card were found. On Monday, a fourth suspect was taken into custody.
He also said that other victims who had allegedly been robbed by the suspects had turned up to identify them and that, once the inquiry is finished, they will face charges in court.
After reporting to the RRS Headquarters, five victims were able to positively identify the offenders. As of right now, the suspects are helping the squad with its investigation. As soon as the investigations are over, they will be charged in court, according to Hundeyin.
