Pep Guardiola admitted he was taken aback by Liverpool fans chanting for his sacking during Manchester City’s 2-0 defeat on Sunday.
After Mohamed Salah’s late penalty secured the win, Liverpool supporters taunted Guardiola with a chorus of “sacked in the morning” as City fell 11 points behind in the Premier League title race.
In response, Guardiola held up six fingers to signify the six Premier League titles he has won during his time in England.

Speaking to Sky Sports about his reaction, Guardiola said: “All the stadiums want to sack me; it started at Brighton. Maybe they’re right, given the results we’ve had recently.
“I didn’t expect it at Anfield. They didn’t sing it at 1-0, but at 2-0. Maybe they should have sung it in the past.
“I was surprised because I respect the Liverpool fans and the battles we’ve had over the years. But it’s fine; it’s part of the game, and I understand it completely.
“I’m here defending what we’ve achieved in the past, thanks to these players, and more than ever, I want to stand by them and support them.”
Guardiola, who recently signed a new contract with City, has previously acknowledged that his past success with the club is what has shielded him from job insecurity.
