Xavi had announced his intention to leave the club this summer back in January, citing the pressure and stress of managing Barcelona as reasons for his departure. However, since his announcement, the team has experienced a remarkable upturn in form, remaining unbeaten in the 12 games that followed, with eight victories, including a significant 3-2 win over Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday, where Pedri returned from injury and impressed with an assist.

Following the match, Pedri expressed his desire for Xavi to stay with Barcelona for at least one more season.

“We’ve always been fully supportive of the coach, and as long as he’s with us, that won’t change,” Pedri stated. “We hope to have many more days together.

“[Xavi] is a product of Barcelona, and we strive to defend the club just as he did as a player. I hope you reconsider, Xavi, and stay for the long haul.”

Despite the encouragement from players and officials alike, Xavi has remained steadfast in his decision to leave. When asked if Wednesday’s victory could alter his mindset, Xavi responded, “It’s time to savor the moment and finish the job. We have a crucial match on Tuesday and Cadiz on Saturday. But [the victory] doesn’t alter anything.”

Barcelona’s vice-president, Rafa Yuste, has admitted to ongoing efforts to persuade Xavi to stay, while reports indicate that president Joan Laporta is also actively working to retain Xavi’s services.
