With less than twenty-four hours to go before the Imo State governorship race, the Peoples Democratic Party has requested that the All Progressives Congress’s candidate, Governor Hope Uzodimma, be disqualified by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
In a statement released on Friday by Debo Ologunagba, the PDP’s national publicity secretary, the party said Uzodimma ought to be disqualified for allegedly funding a video that denigrated its candidate in an effort to deceive the state’s electorate.
According to a widely shared video on social media on Thursday, Sam Anyanwu, the PDP candidate, has urged his followers to vote for Uzodimma.

Ologunagba denounced the video as phony and chastised Uzodimma for supposedly using a last-minute underhanded tactic to push the PDP candidate out of the way. He stated that Anyanwu is not deterred and is poised for victory.
He described it as concerning that the creators of the bogus video tried to trick Nigerians into thinking it was a TVC news broadcast.
He applauded TVC’s management for their bravery in swiftly denying and denouncing the phony video’s legitimacy and misleading the people of Imo State by using the TVC name, logo, and inscription.
The PDP asked the people of Imo State to ignore the aforementioned video and reiterated that Anyanwu is still very much in the running for governor.
The PDP asked the people of Imo State to ignore the aforementioned video and reiterated that Anyanwu is still very much in the running for governor.
“Governor Uzodimma should withdraw from the race, as he has sufficiently shown that he is not prepared to compete in a free, fair, and transparent election,” the statement read.
The APC and Governor Uzodimma are reportedly involved in creating and distributing the phony video, which is a flagrant violation of the Nigerian Criminal Code, the Cyber Crime Law, and the Electoral Act of 2022. Accordingly, the PDP calls on INEC to disqualify the APC and Governor Uzodimma.
