According to the Oyo State Police Command, 207 people were detained for a variety of offenses between January and December 2023. This information was released on Friday.

Adebola Hamzat, the state commissioner of police, made this declaration at the command headquarters in Ibadan during the parade of 38 criminal suspects.

Hamzat stated that 108 guns and 721 rounds of ammunition in various calibres were taken from the suspects, and that since January, 50 stolen cars and 46 motorbikes and tricycles have been found.

Adewale Osifeso, the state police public relations officer, paraded the suspects on behalf of CP Hamzat and stated that they were apprehended in their various hideouts as a result of reliable information that was provided to the state command.

“The state police command is pleased to inform residents that it has recorded significant successes in reducing crime rates throughout the state within the last five months,” he said. This was accomplished by combining proactive policing, community engagement, and operations driven by intelligence.

“From January 1 to this day, 207 suspects in armed robberies have been taken into custody; 50 stolen cars and 46 motorbikes/tricycles have been found; 108 firearms and 721 rounds of ammunition in various calibers have been recovered from the hands of offenders.”

Cars, English pump action and revolver rifles, locally manufactured guns, nine firearms, sixty rounds of ammo, and native charms are among the other goods that were found.
