Funke Akindele, the highest-grossing Nollywood director of all time, smashed box office records in the UK with her film A Tribe Called Judah, grossing £80,000 in just four weeks of streaming.
The film made over one billion naira in revenue in Nigeria in the four weeks after its premiere. Film One gave Akindele credit for her ability to focus and big-ball.

Gossipinfo reported that Funke Akindele took to social media to celebrate her film “A Tribe Called Judah” grossing a record-breaking N1 billion in cinemas.
FilmOne Entertainment, the filmmaker’s production partner on the movie, announced the milestone in a statement on Thursday, January 4, 2024.
Akindele is also the director of the second highest-grossing Nollywood film of all time, Battle on Buka Street (668 million), and the third highest-grossing Nollywood film of all time, Omo Ghetto: The Saga (636 million).
According to Moses Babatope, Group Deputy Managing Director of FilmHouse Group, the new milestone demonstrates that Nigerian film is in its golden moment.
“Funke Akindele’s A Tribe Called Judah reaching the one billion naira mark is an indication that despite the stiff competition from international streaming platforms, our local content continues to thrive, engaging audiences on a grand scale,” he said.
Taking to her verified Instagram page, the excited Funke Akindele wrote; “Thank you LORD!!! Thank you NIGERIA!! Thank you GHANA!!.”
