In accordance with the Nigeria Labour Congress’s direction, some public schools in Osogbo, Osun State, closed early on Tuesday and asked employees to take strike action.

Around nine in the morning, students who had returned to their various schools in the town could be seen making their way home through the streets around Stadium, Ayetoro, and West Bye Pass in Osogbo.

However, when the students were dismissed from several of the city’s schools, teachers were seen in their different offices.

Among the educational institutions that were visited were Adenle Grammar School, which is situated in the Ayetoro Area of Osogbo, Saint James Grammar School, and Fakunle High School in Osogbo.

Every instructor contacted declined to provide a statement for the record.

However, a couple of them who spoke but wished to remain anonymous claimed that after returning to work, labor officials had informed them that the strike had begun.

When the labor leaders arrived and demanded that we cease activities, we were unable to contain the pupils. Many professors are still present on campus even though the pupils have been freed, a male teacher who only went as Johnson told our correspondent.

When reached, Modupe Oyedele, the interim chairperson of the Osun NLC, stated that state employees adhered strictly to the strike order.

“Osun workers complied fully,” she stated. Osun complies fully with the directive regarding the strike.
