The family of Michael Adewale Kashamu, one of the students accused of torturing Sylvester Oromoni, Jr., a late 12-year-old Dowen College student, has finally responded to the outcry on social media.
The family confirmed that Michael Kashamu is the son of late Senator Buruji Kashamu, who represented Ogun East in the 8th National Assembly, in a statement given by one Mutairu Kashamu.
Despite the late Sylvester’s accusations, the family stated that the continuous cyber-bullying and name-calling will not aid in the resolution of the pending matter, and it committed to cooperate with the government during the investigation.

Michael was “seriously questioned” about his role, according to the family, who undertook a private investigation.
According to the family, their son had served as Sylvester’s school father during the previous session, but had been transferred to a different floor in the boarding home for the new session, affecting their relationship.

“Requires a thorough investigation.”
Despite confirming Sylvester’s father’s claim that the dead was bullied during the previous session, the family said that their son was not involved.
Their son, Michael Kashamu, was also unaware that a similar occurrence had occurred earlier this year, resulting in Sylvester’s injury and death, according to the report.
“The Kashamu family has been swamped with queries, calls, and messages regarding the terrible occurrence at Dowen College, Lekki, Lagos, which resulted in the untimely death of Sylvester Oromoni, a 12-year-old student of the College,” the statement continues.
