Oba Saliu Adetunji, the Olubadan of Ibadan land, has died.

He was 93 years old when he died.

On Sunday, palace insiders who requested anonymity confirmed his death.

The monarch’s aides, however, neither confirmed nor denied his death when approached.

When reached by phone, one of his media aides remarked, “Even if he is dead, it is the governor who will announce it.”

“You don’t hear bad news from a priest,” another aide remarked in Yoruba, before hanging up.

As of the time of reporting this story, attempts to contact Taiwo Adisa, the governor of Oyo State’s media aide, were unsuccessful.
