Manchester United prospects Habeeb Ogunneye and Maxi Oyedele have taken a significant step towards breaking into the first team by training with the senior squad and being assigned provisional squad numbers.

The Nigeria-eligible pair joined senior players such as Marcus Rashford, Casemiro, and Harry Maguire at Carrington on Thursday, aiming to impress manager Erik ten Hag. Ogunneye, a defensive midfielder, and Oyedele, a fullback, were given provisional numbers 59 and 66, respectively, which could see them included in the squad for United’s first pre-season friendly against Rosenborg in Norway on July 15.

Ogunneye made nine first-team appearances last season, including seven in the Premier League, highlighting his growing presence with the coaching staff. With several United players still away on international duty after the European Championship and Copa America, Ogunneye and Oyedele have a prime opportunity to make a strong impression on ten Hag and the coaching staff.
