On Wednesday, medical professionals at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) in Sagamu, Ogun State, neglected their patients.
This is because hospital employees followed the Trade Union Congress’s (TUC) and the Nigeria Labour Congress’s (NLC) orders to go on an indefinite strike.
Doctors, nurses, midwives, lab workers, record keepers, and other OOUTH employees were observed going home on Wednesday with signs that read, “We have joined the strike, no work today.”

Returned were patients and other visitors to the facility.
Additionally, as union organizers were chasing doctors and nurses out of their offices, those admitted could have to transfer to a different hospital.
Using canes, the union leaders had invaded the hospital, prepared to flog out any employees who dared to return to work in opposition to the walkout.
One of OOUTH’s main gates is locked as of the time this report was filed.
“I came from Abeokuta this morning to pick the result of a test I did last week, but they told me they have joined strike,” stated a Mrs. Abiola Ade, who was at the hospital. I will therefore have to go back. This is really irksome.
