In a truly remarkable demonstration of admiration for academic excellence, His Royal Majesty Adeshina Suleiman Okikiola, the highly respected Oba Oniba of Iba, has bestowed a generous sum of N2 million upon the Best Graduating Student of Lagos State University (LASU).
The esteemed king, whose realm encompasses one of the host communities of LASU, explained that Aminat’s remarkable achievement was being celebrated not only to pave the way for his own children’s success but also to inspire the young people in his kingdom, emphasizing the rewarding nature of hard work.
As an additional accolade, the Oniba will soon receive an Honorary Doctorate Degree at the University’s Convocation. In light of this, he expressed his admiration for Aminat, a devout Muslim woman, for her extraordinary accomplishment. He offered his prayers for her and then proceeded to perform a gesture that momentarily stunned many attendees, including the girl’s parents.

With the Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N500,000) awarded to her by the University Management on Wednesday, 14th June being the first of the windfall to greet her extraordinary performance, the second public harvest of the fruit of her hard work arrived when the Oniba presented her with a cheque of Two Million Naira (2,000,000) in the presence of other traditional rulers and chiefs, members of the University Management and family members of the girl who had attended the event.
Unable to contain their joy, Aminat and her parents, who had escorted her to the King’s palace, wept for joy in what is sure to be the second of many largesse to follow in the coming days.
