Following his recent promotion, Shem Obafaiye, a retired deputy commandant-general of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, gave an explanation on why he was outfitted officially.

According to PUNCH METRO, Interior Minister Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo appointed Obafaiye to the post of Deputy Commandant-General of the NSCDC.

Along with two of his deputy commandants-general, Raji, the former Imo commandant, and Fasiu Adeyinka, the former Kwara commandant, he received recognition.

It was noted that he was not formally knitted for the new role after his promotion.

In response to this, he clarified that he is currently retired in a live interview on Channels TV.

“My now Oga at the top, the president graciously approved, as did my minister of interior and the commandant general. The trio decided to let him go home with this rank even after retirement,” he stated.

Additionally, he disclosed that the “Oga at the Top” episode had no appreciable negative impact on him because he decided to carry on with his responsibilities, particularly with the media.
