In light of the continuing statewide strike, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu has called a meeting with the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress leadership.
The TUC’s National President, Festus Osifo, stated in an interview with Arise Television on Tuesday that the labor leaders are still open to “reasonable and sincere” communication, even though it is unclear if they will attend the meeting.
“The NSA office has called a meeting, and it is scheduled for this afternoon,” a person with knowledge of the situation informed PUNCH Online.

On Wednesday morning, Ribadu announced that certain individuals had been taken into custody in relation to the attack on NLC President Joe Ajaero.
Since then, the NSA has started looking into the subject after expressing concern about the continued industrial action by said probe.
The PUNCH reports that the ongoing strike is to protest the battering of Ajaero, and some other executives of the congress in Owerri, Imo State, on November 1, as well as the pending labour issues in Imo State.
Ajaero was arrested by the police ahead of a state-wide protest in Imo, as disclosed by the NLC’s Head of Information, Benson Upah.
Although the police denied arresting Ajaero, stating that he was merely taken into protective custody to prevent a mob attack, the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, accused the labour leader of meddling in the political affairs of the state.
