The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has levied a N6 million fine against Kwara United for their actions during the matchday 31 encounter against Akwa United.
Kwara United faced charges for both disrupting the live broadcast of the match and providing false information, resulting in a fixture adjustment.
The Harmony Boys had requested a rescheduling of their game from Saturday, April 20 to Sunday, April 21, citing a letter claiming that a state government event was scheduled at the stadium.

The fine was communicated to the club via a memo, which stated: “You have violated Rule C1.1 of the NPFL Frameworks and Rules by submitting a late application for fixture rearrangement prior to Match Day 31 between Kwara United FC and Akwa United FC. Your application was based on falsehoods and supported by forged documents, actions that could tarnish the integrity of the game.
Furthermore, you are in violation of Rule B6.23 of the NPFL Frameworks and Rules for disrupting the live broadcast of a match by making false statements regarding the availability of your home ground.”
Kwara United has been given 48 hours to lodge an appeal against the verdict.
