Nottingham Forest has officially confirmed their decision to appeal the Premier League’s ruling, which docked them four points for violations of the Profit & Sustainability Rules (PSR).
The Premier League’s announcement last week regarding the deduction prompted Forest to challenge the decision, as per the statement released by the club on Monday.
“Nottingham Forest can confirm that it has today lodged an appeal against the four-point sanction imposed by the Commission in relation to the Club’s breach of the Premier League’s Profit & Sustainability Rules (PSR). The club will not be making any further statement at this time,” the statement affirmed.

Acknowledging Forest’s appeal, the Premier League issued their own statement, stating: “Nottingham Forest Football Club has appealed the decision of an independent Commission to impose a four-point deduction on the club, after its admission of a breach of the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules.”
“The club lodged the appeal to the Chair of the Judicial Panel today, who will now appoint an Appeal Board to hear the case,” the Premier League further clarified.
The Premier League has set a deadline of May 24 for appeals to be heard, five days after the conclusion of the 2023/24 season on May 19.
The deduction has pushed Forest into the relegation zone, displacing them beneath Luton Town in the standings. With eight rounds of fixtures remaining, Nuno Espirito Santo’s team trails Luton Town by one point.
Additionally, Everton, who encountered a six-point penalty this season for PSR violations, are awaiting another commission hearing over a second financial charge. Presently, they hold a four-point advantage over Nottingham Forest.
