In order to prevent anomalies and unpleasant outcomes, Nigerians traveling overseas are advised to have the appropriate documentation, according to Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission.
When Dabiri-Erewa visited some Nigerians in one of the shelters in Brampton, Canada, she made this statement.
Because the “situation is getting tougher in many countries,” Dabiri-Erewa advised Nigerians who intended to travel to Canada—either without the necessary documentation or to seek asylum—to change their minds.

The information was made public on Thursday through the commission’s X account. Abdur-Rahman Balogun, the Director of NIDCOM’s Media, Public Relations, and Protocols Unit, signed the statement.
The NIDCOM chief expressed sympathy for their predicament and asked anyone considering traveling without the required documentation to reconsider since things are becoming more difficult in many other nations and “it is just not worth it, most of the time.”
According to Vivian Eruka, who oversees the Bethel food bank and works with individuals in shelters, the statement also stated that the mayor of Brampton “promised to make 800 more beds available and shelter.”
According to the statement, “Mr. Wale Rabiu, owner of the Matlock bakery, donated hundreds of loaves of Agege bread to the shelter inmates. Mr. Bayo Adedosu, a Nigerian resident of Canada and an immigration consultant, also gave some words of counseling, adding that they should not talk ill about their home country, Nigeria, to avoid future repercussions.” It also stated that Nigerians should be law-abiding and patient.
The statement issued cautioned that although migration is a human right issue, it must be done legally and not irregularly.
