Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, expressed sorrow on Thursday over the death of Afolabi Stephen, a 19-year-old Nigerian student who was reportedly slain in Manitoba, Canada.

The Winnipeg, Manitoba Police Department said in a statement published on its website via Winnipeg.ca that its officers responded to a report regarding a young male who was acting “erratically,” despite the fact that the specifics of his death are still unknown.

When the police arrived, they observed that their attempts to calm the young man had failed, and as a result, they had to shoot him, killing him.
Justice would be served, Dabiri-Erewa pledged in a condolence statement sent by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Director of Media, Public Relations, and Protocols.
“We are in contact with the Nigerian mission in Ottawa, who have received confirmation from the Canadian authorities that an exhaustive investigation has started into the regrettable incident,” she stated.
