The Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police, Muyiwa Adejobi, criticized the behavior of certain commercial vehicle drivers who often leave their passengers at checkpoints when the police request the passengers to disembark for inspection.
Adejobi acknowledged that it was typically the police who directed the drivers to leave, but he emphasized that responsible commercial bus drivers should not leave their passengers at checkpoints and should continue the journey.
Adejobi made this disclosure on his social media handle on Wednesday in response to a post by a man who mentioned that policemen often instruct passengers, particularly young men, to disembark from commercial vehicles and subsequently instruct the driver to leave, leaving the passengers stranded.

In response to the post, Adejobi explained that a responsible commercial driver should not simply drop his passengers at a police checkpoint and depart. He noted that the manifest filled out by the passengers signifies that he is responsible for all of them throughout the journey.
Adejobi emphasized that a responsible and sensible driver should insist on waiting until the police have completed their search of the passengers. He also assured the man that the police authorities would address this issue.
