The statement reads: “Cute Abiola is not missing !!! He is in custody for breaching Armed Forces Social Media Policy,” the Navy spokesperson said.

The Armed Forces Act 2017 establishes social media norms to prevent members of the Armed Forces from engaging in unethical behavior on social media, particularly behavior that could expose them to enemy traps or jeopardize ongoing military operations.

“Personnel should not share their or their colleagues’ images in military uniforms, or pictures depicting military structures, platforms, or other military-related goods,” according to one of the guidelines’ several warnings.

Military personnel were also obligated to provide warnings to their family members about contentious social media behavior.

“Personnel will be held accountable for any security difficulties that arise as a result of civilian friends or relatives posting on their behalf.” As a result, they must educate their friends and relatives as needed about military security and what should not be posted on social media,” according to the instructions.
