The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) plans to commence disciplinary proceedings against Victor Osimhen following his outspoken criticism of former Super Eagles head coach Finidi George.
Osimhen, the Napoli striker, launched a vehement attack on Finidi during an intense Instagram Live session. He expressed anger over alleged comments questioning his commitment to the national team after withdrawing from the last two 2026 World Cup qualifiers due to injury.
Reports indicate that Finidi George’s supposed statement, which Osimhen reacted to, was misleading and fabricated.

According to Vanguard, the NFF intends to charge Osimhen for misconduct in the coming days over his verbal tirade against Finidi George.
An NFF board member confirmed this development to Owngoal Nigeria, stating, “President Ibrahim Muse Guseu has already spoken with Osimhen regarding his outburst, and Finidi also reached out to him. The statement he reacted to was false and misleading, but unfortunately, he didn’t verify it before reacting.”
The board member continued, “Victor Osimhen is a role model, and to support the incoming coach in establishing authority, we must use him as an example. His comments crossed a line, and despite Finidi’s attempt to clarify, Osimhen did not retract his statements. We cannot condone this behavior. After the break for the Salah festival, we will address the issue. He will not be considered for selection until he apologizes for his actions.”
