Following the declaration of an indefinite strike by organized labour unions, electricity workers have shut down the national grid.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria’s spokeswoman, Ndidi Mbah, exclusively verified this to DAILY POST on Tuesday.
She claims that a statewide blackout occurred on Monday around 11:20 am as a result of the National Union of power Employees (NUEE), the union that represents power workers, following the Nigeria Labour Congress’s directives to stop providing their services.

As members of the NLC, electricity workers have complied with organized labor’s demand to stop providing their services on Tuesday, the speaker said.
According to information obtained by DAILY POST, there is a blackout across the Federal Capital Territory and its surroundings.
In response to the situation, Bayo Onanuga, Special Advisor to the President on Information & Strategy, released a statement on behalf of the Presidency stating that the unions’ strike action showed a clear disrespect for the judges and the legal system.
Consequently, the government expressed its disapproval, saying that the nation’s economic and social activities should take precedence above the personal interests of any labor leader.
The DAILY POST reports that following an attack on NLC President Joe Ajaero on November 1, 2023, in Imo State, the unions threatened a national walkout last week.
